(Los Angeles) The volcanic American boxer Ryan Garcia, spectacular winner over his compatriot Devin Haney on April 20, denied any doping on Wednesday after the revelation by ESPN of two positive tests for ostarine the day before and the day of the fight.
The sports channel’s editorial staff assured Wednesday that Garcia tested positive for ostarine, an anabolic agent, on April 19 and then on April 20 in the morning, the day of his victorious fight in New York. ESPN says it has had access to a letter from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada), an independent organization which organizes doping controls in the martial arts community, presenting the details of the controls.
On April 20, Garcia knocked out Haney three times to inflict a first defeat on his opponent, without however capturing his WBC super-lightweight belt, Garcia having entered the fight too heavy for the category.
“Damn “fake news”, don’t believe these assholes,” exploded the 25-year-old boxer during a speech on his X account, followed by a series of insulting and conspiratorial publications.
” What can I say ? Why didn’t they tell me this before the fight since I was tested before […] I’ve never taken steroids in my life, I wouldn’t even know where to find them,” he defended.
“I shouldn’t have taken this,” he wrote in a post featuring a photo of a box of the dietary supplement, suggesting that his positive test could be due to that.
