Boxing: Eye of the Tiger confirms the arrival of these promising recruits

Promoter Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) will be counting on new faces soon, including world junior Olympic boxing champion at 60 kilograms Erik Israyelyan, as well as WBA world number 6 light heavyweight, Venezuelan Albert Ramirez.

In a press release sent Tuesday, the organization recalled that Ramirez (15-0-0, 14 KOs) will participate in the gala scheduled for May 5 in Cuernavaca, Mexico. On this occasion, he will face Ricardo Adrian Luna (25-9-2, 16 K.-O.) in a duel scheduled for 10 rounds, as announced a few days earlier.

“I really discovered Ramirez by inviting him to Artur Beterbiev’s training camp in Moscow in 2021, even though I had been following him since 2016. His discipline and dedication convinced me that he had all the tools to reach the highest peaks,” complimented coach Marc Ramsay.

As for Israyelyan (15-1-0, 1 KO), he dominated his category last year, being crowned European junior champion and obtaining the gold medal at the world junior championships held by AIBA in Spain. Among amateurs, he totaled 113 victories in 118 fights. Compared by Ramsay to Adrian Diaconu due to his aggressive style and devastating power, he has attracted the interest of coach Jessy-Ross Thompson, with whom he will begin his professional career later in 2023.

“Our goal of building the most feared team in the world and establishing ourselves as one of boxing’s most important promoters on the international scene has remained the same over the years, but we now have the experience, the tools and resources to do so”, underlined the president of EOTTM, Camille Estephan.

“While our last wins have allowed us to establish ourselves in the heavyweight and super middleweight divisions, our latest wave of recruitment will hopefully allow us to do the same in the 130s, 135s, 140s, 147s and now the 175 lbs with Ramirez and [Mehmet Nadir] Unal.”

Earlier this month, Estephan and EOTTM confirmed an event in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo, where Quebecer Leïla Beaudoin (9-0-0, 1 KO) will try to keep her record perfect against Elizabeth Chavez Espinoza (3-4-3, 1 K.-O.). Unal will also be in action, as will Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse (4-1-0, 1 K.-O.). The latter has an appointment with Giovanna Gonzalez (3-3-0, 1 K.-O.).

In addition, the company recalled the presentation of a gala on June 1 at the Casino de Montréal. Erik Bazinyan will fight Jose de Jesus Macias and will want to retain his NABF and NABA super middleweight titles.
