(Riyadh) The fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol has been postponed due to an injury suffered in training by the adopted Quebecer.
Promoter Top Rank made the announcement on Friday, specifying that Beterbiev suffered a torn meniscus.
The unification fight was to take place on 1er June, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The duel should nevertheless take place before the end of the year.
Beterbiev (20-0-0, 20 KOs) holds the WBC, IBF and WBO light heavyweight belts, while Bivol (22-0-0, 11 KOs) holds that of WBA.
Beterbiev defeated Callum Smith by knockout. on January 13 at the Videotron Center. Bivol, for its part, obtained a unanimous decision from the judges on December 23 after a clash against Lyndon Arthur, in Riyadh.
Beterbiev trains in Montreal under the direction of Marc Ramsay.
