Boxer Jean Pascal arrested for drunk driving

Quebec boxer Jean Pascal was arrested for impaired driving late Friday night in downtown Montreal and charged with refusing to properly blow into police detection equipment.

The Service de police de la ville de Montréal (SPVM) has confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old man, who was first intercepted by patrol officers for making a right turn at a red light, at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Metcalfe streets.

“Following the interception, the police detected a smell of alcohol coming from the mouth of the 40-year-old man,” reports SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. “Afterwards, the police asked him to provide a breath sample. Then they accused him of refusing to provide the breath sample. »

The SPVM does not confirm that the accused man was Jean Pascal.

But the boxer himself recounted being arrested in a post on Twitter, which was later deleted.

” The agent […] arrested me without reading me my rights, handcuffed me in public as if throwing a vulgar guy from a street gang and then releasing me. I am 40 years old with no criminal history. Why all this excessive force (sic),” Jean Pascal wrote on Twitter.

A little later, in another message that is still on the social network, the boxer wrote “justice for visible minorities! ! ! ! “.

According to our information, the event occurred shortly before 4 a.m. and Jean Pascal tried to assert his notoriety with the police.

Other people were also in his car, but the vehicle was towed anyway.

Jean Pascal was released with a promise to appear at a later date.
