The romantic comedy love againby James C. Strouse, in which Celine Dion participates, had a dismal first weekend at the box office.
The film, which arrived on screens in Quebec on May 5, came in fourth on the charts with receipts of $72,571, far behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which dominated at the box office with sales of just over 1.3 million in their first week in theaters. On a continental scale, the performance of the film starring Priyanka Chopra proved even worse with receipts of 2.4 million over the past weekend, the result of a frosty reception from critics as evidenced by its 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In the film, Celine Dion plays herself, trying to help a journalist who wants to get in touch with a young grieving widow who contacted him by accident.
Super Mario Bros. : The film, also continued to draw crowds in its sixth week in theaters with still quite respectable receipts of $389,560, for a total of more than 10.5 million in Quebec alone. Only one Quebec film managed to register in the top 10 last weekend, the fantastic comedy farador raking in $18,841 at the box office for a total of $264,370 after three weeks on screens.
