Botswana: luxury ecotourism in the middle of the savannah

In the early hours of the day, the immense submersible plains offer a unique spectacle. The delta of I‘okayvango, in Botswana, is home to all the emblematic animals of the savannah. A wild territory twice the size of Corsica. And in the middle of this jewel of southern Africa, camouflaged in thickets, an opulent hotel welcomes a small group of Americans. Botswana has relied on luxury ecotourism to limit the number of visitors.

Here, only a privileged few can enjoy this five-star campsite. Magnificent luxury suites, in the middle of the savannah. And the highlight of the show is on the private terrace: a swimming pool. An experience at an exorbitant price, at no less than 1,200 euros per night per person, in a hotel with only 12 rooms. The management justifies these high prices by the desire to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible. The site is equipped with a water treatment plant and a field of photovoltaic panels.
