Boston Bruins | Shoulder surgery ends Matthew Poitras’ season

(Boston) Rookie Matthew Poitras underwent season-ending right shoulder surgery, the Boston Bruins announced Wednesday.

His convalescence period was estimated at five months.

General manager Don Sweeney explained that the club’s medical staff recommended the procedure because Poitras could have aggravated his injury while playing.

“Matt has been a huge part of our success this year,” Sweeney said. He is just beginning his career with the Bruins and will be an important part of our future. »

Selected in the second round in 2022, the 19-year-old forward was playing his first campaign in the National Hockey League. He totaled five goals and 15 points in 33 games.
