Boston Bruins | McAvoy suspended for four games

(New York) Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy was suspended for four games by the NHL following an illegal check at the head of a rival.

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced the news early Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred Monday, during the third period of the game between the Bruins and the Florida Panthers. McAvoy received a match penalty for a dangerous hit to the head of defender Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

This is the second time McAvoy has been suspended by the NHL for a head hit in his career.

In nine games this season, McAvoy has two goals and six assists. He amassed 43 goals and 195 assists in 389 NHL games, all with the Bruins.

McAvoy will lose US$197,916.68 in salary. This amount will be donated to the NHL players’ emergency fund.
