Marchand successfully underwent arthroscopy and labral repair of both hips at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York on Friday, the Bruins organization reported.
Recovery time is about six months. This means that the 34-year-old veteran will miss the first two months of the next campaign.
Marchand has 80 points in 70 games this season, his 12e in the Bettman circuit. He also had 11 points in seven games against the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
