Borough of Saint-Laurent | A suspicious fire destroys a vacant building

Firefighters worked hard on Sunday evening to put out a suspicious fire in a vacant building in the borough of Saint-Laurent, northwest of Montreal.

The fire was declared to emergency services shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday evening, for a vacant building located near the corner of boulevard Marcel-Laurin and chemin Laval, in the borough of Saint-Laurent, in Montreal.

An hour and a half later, fire departments were still working to put out the flames. The fire was declared suspicious and the investigation fell under the responsibility of the arson section of the Montreal police department (SPVM), according to agent Véronique Comtois, spokesperson for the SPVM.

As part of the investigation, a 48-year-old man was transported to the investigation center where he will be met by the authorities, said Ms.me Comtois.
