In an email sent to parents of students at Robert-Gravel High School in Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, the vice-principal explains that on Monday, two students were robbed in a park shortly after school.
On Tuesday, a “similar situation” happened again.
“A student contacted the police and one of the criminals was arrested by the police. However, there were other young people who continued to threaten some of our students after the police left,” writes the deputy director.
“As a preventive measure”, the students were accompanied to the metro by a teacher so that they could return home.
The SPVM confirms that an investigation has been opened. “911 was contacted on Monday to intervene near the school, there was a story with young people involved,” said agent Mariane Allaire Morin, public relations officer at the police department.
Asked to give more details on the threats to which the students of this school had been victims, the spokesperson for the Montreal school service center, Alain Perron, replied that “the attackers do not come from [l’école secondaire] Robert Gravel”.
Management now asks students to “stay at school in the cafeteria under adult supervision. Nor should they open the door even to people they know,” read the email sent to the parents.
Young people are also invited to go home as soon as school is over.
