Bormes-les-Mimosas postpones its liberation ceremony

“I made the decision to postpone the festivities” François Arizzi, Mayor of Bormes-les-Mimosas, announces the postponement of the ceremony on his Facebook page. The 78th anniversary of the liberation of the city does not take place this Wednesday, August 17, as planned. The ceremony is postponed to Friday, August 19. Blame it on the weather. The Var department is placed in orange vigilance all day this Wednesday for the risk of thunderstorms, but also in yellow vigilance for rains and floods.

I’ll meet you on Friday August 19 according to the program initially planned – François Arizzi, Mayor of Bormes-les-Mimosas

A postponed but unchanged ceremony promises the Mayor: “I’ll meet you on Friday […] according to the program initially planned”. The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron should therefore be present, two days after the initial date, accompanied by the Argentine ambassador.

In view of the storms to come, a decision had been taken a little earlier in the day, the postponement of the fireworks. The pyrotechnic show will finally be held on Sunday August 21, at 10.30 p.m., from Favières beach.
