Boris Johnson and his wife announce the birth of a baby girl

(London) Boris Johnson and his wife announced the birth of a baby girl, the couple’s second child, on Thursday during a particularly stormy political week for the British Prime Minister.

“The Prime Minister and Mme Johnson are delighted to announce the birth of a healthy baby girl at a London hospital earlier today, ”a spokesperson for the couple said on Thursday.

“The mother and daughter are doing very well,” she added, “The couple would like to thank the brilliant maternity team for all their care and support.”

Carrie Symonds, 33, now Mme Johnson, is already the mother with the British Prime Minister of a little boy, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, born at the end of April 2020.

It’s the 7e child for Boris Johnson, 57, who had four with his first wife, and also has a daughter born from an affair.

This birth comes as a happy parenthesis in a very complicated week for the British Prime Minister.

For several days, revelations have been piling up in the newspapers about parties which were said to have taken place in Downing Street in November and December last year in full lockdown, when the British were deprived of the possibility of seeing relatives or celebrating. Christmas because of the restrictions linked to the pandemic.

Ridiculed by the press and vilified within his own party, Mr Johnson sees his credibility called into question as he places new restrictions on the Omicron variant. Added to this is yet another wake-up call Thursday about the costly renovation of his Downing Street home, funded by a private donation.
