British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday (2 March) accused Russia of being guilty of “war crime” in Ukraine because of the weapons used against civilians and called on the UN to “to require” a Russian withdrawal.

“What we have already seen from the regime of Vladimir Putin regarding the use of munitions dropped on innocent civilians, this already constitutes in my opinion a war crime”he declared in front of the British deputies, who rose to an ovation to the Ukrainian ambassador Vadym Prystaïko, present in the galleries of the House of Commons.
The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced on Monday the opening “as fast as possible” of an inquiry into the situation in Ukraine, referring to “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity”. Amnesty International in particular denounced the use of cluster munitionsbanned in 2010 by an international convention, believing that this should be investigated for “war crime”.
