Bordeaux in suffocating heat

In the heat, in Bordeaux (Gironde), a few families are counting on the water mirror to lower the temperature, Saturday June 18. “We will drink water, we go in the shade, we eat ice cream”lists a mother in search of freshness. “I’m a roofer and all week I was on a 40 degree roof, so that’s fine”, relativizes a dad. In the city center, the streets are quiet. Few dare to go out.

“It’s hard, we come from Brittany. The heat, we’re not used to it”have fun two passers-by. In the streets, the air circulates little. Passers-by try as much as possible to get closer to the water. For their part, the glaciers take advantage of these temperatures to refuel. “We don’t stop, it’s madness”, smiles the manager of the Maison du glacier. Throughout the day, volunteers distribute water to the homeless. “Often, they are begging in the middle of a dodger”says one of them, who explains that their health is in danger when the heat is so strong.
