Bordeaux is still in bad shape. The Girondins, whose representatives were interviewed on Tuesday 9 July by the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG), have been relegated as a precautionary measure to the National League. The Professional Football League (LFP) justified this decision by a lack of financial guarantees.
The Girondins announced in a press release that they would appeal this decision and “now have the time needed to finalise one of the options that will secure funding for next season.”
The club will have two weeks to finalize the sale of the club to Fenway Sports Group, which specializes in the management of sports clubs and owns Liverpool (Premier League). To return to L2, Bordeaux must provide between 30 and 40 million euros by its next hearing to be included at the start of the season on August 17. The club had already been relegated to National by the DNCG in 2022, before being saved by an appeal before the French National Olympic and Sports Committee.
