In a fifteenth day cut off from two meetings due to the Covid-19, Castres preserved its invincibility at home, Bordeaux-Bègles overthrew Brive, Perpignan won in Biarritz and Lyon easily disposed of Pau on Saturday January 8. Before a European period, which will open next week, the UBB retains the lead of the Top 14.
Castres still invincible at home
Castres Olympique retain their invincibility at the Pierre-Fabre stadium for the 16th consecutive game in the league. After a narrow victory against La Rochelle last weekend (31-30), the Tarnais this time dominated the Stade Français (15-9). The two teams did not offer the most beautiful spectacle to their spectators, with a lot of imprecision and no testing. Stade Français was too lacking in control in the final meters to chain a third consecutive success.

Bordeaux-Bègles was scared in Brive
Under the wind and rain from Corrèze, UBB had to work hard to win in Brive (22-19). Led 11-0 after 20 minutes of play, the Girondins came back to score in the second period thanks to their French internationals. Maxime Lucu, unstoppable at the foot with the wind at his back, and Cameron Woki, author of a test, allowed their teammates to overthrow Brive, despite a try by Setariki Tuicuvu.

Lyon pocket the offensive bonus against Pau
Dominators, the Lyonnais offered themselves the offensive bonus against Pau thanks to five tries. Captain Josua Tuisova carried his own by plunging the first into the in-goal and scoring a double at the half-hour mark. The Palois tried to react with a try from Martin Puech, but it did not is enough to destabilize the LOU. The Lyonnais take the opportunity to settle in the top 6 in the standings.
Perpignan wins the duel of the promoted
In a close match during which each team had its highlights, Perpignan won in Biarritz in a match between the last two of the Top 14. However, the USAP was led at half-time (13-8), in particular because of his indiscipline (9 penalties conceded), but the Catalans fell back in line in the second half. Alivereti Duguivalu notably scored two tries. The BO can feed some regrets since he had the opportunity to win late in the game, but Brett Herron missed the target on a long penalty. The USAP won its first away game this season and made a good operation in the race to maintain.
