Monday, October 3, the booster doses of vaccine against Covid-19 are open to eligible people. With new vaccines, the Omicron variant is targeted, in addition to the original strain.
On Monday, October 3, patients are being vaccinated against Covid-19 with the new available vaccine. This last targets the original strain of the virus, but also the Omicron variant, which represents all contaminations in France. “We actually have a lot of questions from patients about the arrival of this new vaccine,” says Ségolène Blin, pharmacist.
For the moment, the new Moderna vaccine is available, that of Pfizer targeting Omicron will soon be available. Some are still waiting before making their recall. The fourth dose is open to people over 60, those at risk of a serious form, or those around them, as well as caregivers. “Thanks to this boost, booster shot, adapted to Omicron, we will reduce the ability to become infected and reinfect ourselves”, assures Dr Benjamin Davido, infectious disease specialist at the Raymond Poincaré hospital (AP-HP) in Garches (Haut-de-Seine). Last week, 40,000 new cases were detected every day, up 20%.
