Books: “Freedom, my last frontier” or how Abdul Waheed Zazaï escaped the Taliban

Guest on the set of 11 p.m. from Thursday, January 27, Abdul Waheed Zazai, co-author with Julie Eva of Freedom, my last frontier, delivers a poignant testimony. He recounts his journey to escape the Taliban. “The smugglers were playing with our lives (…), they could do what they wanted, for them, the important thing was the money”, tells the story of the man who met the author and novelist Julie Eva on her arrival in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin).

Abdul Waheed Zazai is 15 years old, when his family tells him that he must leave, otherwise the Afghan army will enlist him, or it will be the Taliban. The teenager, who does not at all want to leave his family, leaves despite everything and goes through Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, as well as Serbia, Italy and France. A 6,000 kilometer journey, completed in six months walk, in order to avoid the dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean.
