A 45e colorful edition for the Salon du livre de Montréal

The Salon du livre de Montréal is already preparing for its major annual event, which will once again be divided into three parts this year. As of November 11, the activities of the Salon dans la ville and the Salon online will be launched, while the event at the Palais des Congrès will welcome, from November 23 to 27, a large number of authors from here and — for the first times since the start of the pandemic — foreign writers who will be visiting Montreal for the occasion. The visual identity of this 45e edition is signed by the LEEROY agency, while the complete program of the Show will be unveiled at the end of October.

The new campaign À GO, we read! will be in full swing from October 19 until December to encourage reading among teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 20. This 5e edition will have host and humorist Kevin Raphaël as ambassadors, who is one of the fantastic Véronique and the fantastic this season ; screenwriter, author and actress Sarah-Maude Beauchesne, whose filming of the first feature film, slush heart, just started; and comedian David Beaucage, who notably presents his show trial and error this fall and a new season of his podcast Drette su’l tape.

Since Wednesday, you can listen to the audio adaptation of the novel for free. Where I landby Caroline Dawson, on the app Radio-Canada OHdio. It is the actress Kathy-Alexandra Retamal Villegas who reads this text which tells the integration in Quebec, in the 1980s, of a Chilean family. She is notably accompanied by Anne Dorval, Michèle Deslauriers, Catherine Proulx-Lemay, Francis Ducharme, Pierre Verville, Henri Picard and Bernard Derome, among many others, while her own mother, who is also of Chilean origin, plays the role of Caroline Dawson’s mother.

The Boy with Upside-Down Feet – The Chronicles of Saint-Sévère

Editions Fides will publish on October 12 next The Boy with Upside-Down Feet – The Chronicles of Saint-Sévère, posthumous novel by François Blais. The author, who notably left his mark in the world of children’s literature, handed over the manuscript of this work for ages 12 and up shortly before his death last May. The story follows two teenage girls as they try to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of a young neighbor. Their investigation, which involves a demon hunter, will take them to the frontiers of the paranormal. During his career, François Blais has written some fifteen books, including Lake Adelardwho received the Governor General’s Award and the Prix des libraires du Québec.

Montreal Libraries Children’s Book Prize: Fanny Britt and Simon Boulerice among the finalists

This week, the City of Montreal unveiled the five works in the running for the Montreal Libraries Children’s Book Prize. The authors and illustrators who caught the jury’s attention are Linda Amyot, for LeonoreSimon Boulerice and Ève Patenaude, for Bubble wrapMario Brassard and Gérard Dubois, for Who owns the clouds?Orbie, for The end of lice? as well as Fanny Britt and Isabelle Arsenault, for Truffle. The prize will be awarded on October 18 at the Saint-Henri library. In addition, the Association des libraires du Québec announced the titles of the 48 works from Québec or abroad that have earned a place on the preliminary list of the Prix des libraires du Québec. The finalists will be revealed next November.

A new youth prize at the Montreal BD Festival

The Montreal Comic Strip Festival

The Montreal Comics Festival announced this week the creation of a new prize to highlight the quality of a Quebec work intended for an audience 14 years of age and under. The Bédélys jeunesse Québec prize will be accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship and a “unique trophy”. The first winner of this award will be announced on May 25 at the 24e evening of the Bédélys awards, on the sidelines of the Montreal BD Festival. The nominees have not been disclosed at this time.
