(Montreal) Hydro-Québec’s number two, Éric Filion, returns home to Bombardier as part of a game of musical chairs at the aircraft manufacturer, which also results in the creation of a position as head of the defense – a niche in the aircraft manufacturer’s line of sight.
These changes were announced Monday, less than a week after the announcement of Mr. Filion’s departure from the Crown corporation. He will serve as Vice President, Programs and Supply Chains. More specifically, he will be responsible for relations with suppliers.
“As we continue to meet and even exceed our objectives, this is the perfect time to reorganize key management functions,” Bombardier President and CEO Eric Martel said in a statement.
The business jet manufacturer is to provide an update on its 2022 financial performance on Thursday. The senior management changes will take effect on February 20. Mr. Filion has been employed by Hydro-Québec for the past seven years. He had previously spent a decade at Bombardier.
For his part, Jean-Christophe Gallagher takes the lead by being appointed executive vice-president of aircraft sales and the defense sector. This niche is expected to take a more important place in the activities of the Quebec aircraft manufacturer, which believes it can eventually achieve additional sales of 1 billion US.
The company wants to convince more and more armed forces to abandon the large carriers currently used to carry out surveillance missions in favor of its business jets, which can be converted.
