The OACIQ syndic claims to have gathered enough evidence on the alleged actions of brokers Christine Girouard and Jonathan Dauphinais-Fortin. They will appear before the disciplinary committee on May 31.
The Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) completed its multi-day investigation Thursday evening. After hearing several testimonies, the organization filed a request for the license of Christine Girourad and Jonathan Dauphinais-Fortin to be temporarily suspended. This means that the two brokers will no longer be able to open their own agency or be hired by a banner other than REMAX.

“The trustee alleges that Christine Girouard and Jonathan Dauphinais-Fortin set up a fraudulent scheme aimed at encouraging buyers to improve their initial promise to purchase, in particular by submitting a bogus promise to purchase to sellers”, declared the ‘OACIQ.
Following the investigation of The PressMme Girouard and Mr. Dauphinais-Fortin had lost their contract with the agency REMAX D’ICI and the OACIQ had issued an administrative suspension of their licence, which is linked to an agency.
It is the Discipline Committee, an autonomous and independent entity of the OACIQ, which will hear the disciplinary complaint and the request for provisional license suspension.
The Discipline Committee will hear Mr.me Girouard, Mr. Dauphinais-Fortin and their lawyers on May 31 and will rule on the trustee’s request. The request for provisional suspension is an emergency procedure that aims to protect the public, reminds the OACIQ.
From May 26, brokers Girouard and Dauphinais-Fortin can no longer collect commission on properties they have sold, but which have not yet been notarized.
