Antony Blinken, the head of the American democracy, is trying to obtain a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, where the bodies of six hostages were reportedly recovered on Tuesday, August 20, according to the Israeli army.
The bodies of the six hostages have been returned to their families from Gaza. The Israeli army claims to have conducted ground operations in cooperation with internal intelligence to find the bodies of the deceased in a tunnel dug by Hamas near Khan Younis. The hostages’ families express their relief and indicate that they can now turn the page, even if the objectives remain intact. “We are working to obtain the return of the hostages under conditions that will allow us to free as many of them as possible.”added Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Monday, August 19, the Israeli government accepted the compromise ceasefire in Gaza after Antony Blinken’s visit to the Middle East. The American Secretary of State met with the Egyptian President, Field Marshal Abdel Fattah Al Sissi, before heading to Doha (Qatar), where the next negotiations between Egyptian, Qatari and American mediators are taking place.
