The American musician and Nobel Prize for Literature Bob Dylan has chosen the Provençal estate of Château La Coste, near Aix-en-Provence, for his first permanent installation, Rail Cara monumental wrought iron work.
Rail Car presents a wagon installed on rails in the middle of the vineyards, and is part of the Art and architecture route of this area in the south of France. Visitors can enter this “hollow” wagon and admire the walls where cycles, adjustable wrenches, chains and ladders intertwine.
At the same time, until August 15 and in the same area, the multicarte artist is exhibiting 24 paintings in an installation entitled Drawn Blank in Provence (2008-2013). These canvases are “based on his drawings made [par l’artiste] during his tours in Europe and America between 1989 and 1991”, specified in a press release the center of arts of the Castle. The exhibition will be presented in the exhibition pavilion designed by Renzo Piano, and the paintings will be presented alongside works by Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall.
Internationally known as a singer and songwriter, but also a director, actor, DJ and visual artist, Bob Dylan has sold more than 110 million records worldwide.
