Bmw | The 3 Series remakes itself and resists the swelling of its grille

Iconic model and relatively affordable last bulwark before pouring into the imposing collection of SUVs offered by the Bavarian, the BMW 3 Series slightly readjusts its shot for 2023 by revamping itself and adding a new infotainment system.

These mid-term adjustments come as its electric counterpart, the i4, is pointing the tip of its muzzle at the manufacturer’s dealerships. To mark the occasion, the 3 Series receives, among other things, a new infotainment screen shared with the latter which integrates in a large curved rectangle the instrumentation as well as the touch screen for navigating in the iDrive8 multimedia interface.

On the aesthetic level, the modifications are minor to preserve the spirit of this model which celebrates its 47 years of existence and which has sold 16 million copies. The front optics are inhabited by inverted L diodes and the grille is still as well proportioned as opposed to the M3 and M4 which embrace a controversial design focusing on their size. The shield is also slightly redesigned with a hexagonal opening to ensure the cooling of the mechanics.

Speaking of these, they remain unchanged. A 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder (255 hp) is still present in the portfolio in base trim. A plug-in hybrid version of this engine pushes power to 288 hp and 32 km of electric range. The 3.0L six-cylinder light hybrid and turbocharged engine also remains present with its 382 hp. All versions have standard all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

On sale in July at a starting bill of $52,750.
