Members of the team, which will be based in Toronto, were previously with CI Financial, according to their LinkedIn profiles. They have global expertise in a range of areas including healthcare, technology, industry, utilities and energy.

Kristi Mitchem, CEO of BMO Global Asset Management,

said the team’s collaboration across asset classes was key for Bank of Montreal, which is focused on growing the division in Canada.

Last year, the Bank of Montreal sold its European asset management business to Ameriprise Financial for $1.09 billion as it refocused its growth on North America.

The latest hires will build on Bank of Montreal’s efforts to grow its Global Asset Management division, for which it has now hired more than 50 investment professionals as part of its expansion.
