(Toronto) The Bank of Montreal announced Thursday the appointment of Darrel Hackett to head the bank’s US operations, its current leader, Dave Casper, to retire.
The bank clarified that from 1er June, Hackett would be chief executive of the U.S. division of Bank of Montreal, president and chief executive of BMO Harris Bank, and chief executive of the bank’s U.S. holding company, BMO Financial Corp.
Mr. Hackett was until now President of BMO Wealth Management in the United States, and he has held several management positions since joining the bank in 2004.
He comes into the role as the Bank of Montreal works to integrate its $16.3 billion acquisition of California bank Bank of the West, which closed in February.
Darryl White, CEO of Bank of Montreal, said in a statement that Mr. Hackett’s dedication to customers, his leadership in the community and the importance he places on the inclusion would be key to the success of the bank’s operations in the United States.
The Bank of Montreal said Casper, who joined the bank in 1984, will serve as chairman of the board of BMO Financial Corp. after leaving his current position.
