Blue Jays win preseason game against Yankees 9-2

(Dunedin) Randal Grichuk slammed a grand slam and starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi gave up a run in two innings of work, and they helped the Toronto Blue Jays crush the New York Yankees 9-2 in a a preseason game played Tuesday afternoon at TD Ballpark.

With a one-ball count and a strike, Grichuk rolled up a shot from reliever Ron Marinaccio over the right field fence to make it 9-1 in the fourth inning.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had three hits and scored two runs. Bo Bichette, George Springer and Cavan Biggio added two hits each for the Blue Jays (4-1).

Kikuchi, who recently signed a three-year contract with the Toronto squad, conceded one walk but no hits. He had four strikeouts.

Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery allowed six hits and three earned runs in one inning.

The Yankees are 1-3 in preseason play.
