(Toronto) Shortstop Arjun Nimmala signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.
The 17-year-old prospect was selected in the 20e rank of Major League Baseball’s most recent draft.
Nimmala has spent the past four seasons with Strawberry Crest High School in Dover, Florida.
Standing six-foot-one and weighing 170 pounds, Nimmala concluded the 2023 season with 35 hits and 29 RBIs in 25 games.
Nimmala hit .382 with 22 doubles, three triples and nine homers in 77 high school games.
He became the fastest drafted Indian-American player from the four major sports in North America. No Indo-American has yet played in the Majors.
