Springer hit his 25e long ball of the season in the sixth, making it 8-0. Vladimir Guerrero and Raimel Tapia also homered for the Blue Jays, who had lost their last two games.

Guerrero provided a 447-foot cannon shot in the third, with Bo Bichette on base. He has 95 RBIs this season. Bichette meanwhile hit two singles. He totaled 48 hits in September, a team record for hits for a month.

Alek Manoah (16-7) allowed just two hits in six innings, striking out four batters.

Yusei Kikuchi was in charge of the last nine outs, having five batters at bat and Nick Pivetta (10-12) allowed four runs and six hits in five innings.

The Red Sox had won their last three games.

The Jays earned a playoff berth on Thursday, the result of a loss to the Baltimore Orioles. The Toronto club celebrated in the locker room after Friday’s game.

The Blue Jays have five regular season games remaining as they attempt to finish first among additional clubs in the playoffs in the American.

The match was played in front of 37,283 people at the Rogers Centre.

After the series against Boston, the Blue Jays will end the regular season in Baltimore. Saturday’s starting pitchers will be Brayan Bello and Ross Stripling.
