(Toronto) The Toronto Blue Jays are set to secure long-term service from starting pitcher Jose Berrios.
A source within the team revealed that the two sides have agreed to a seven-year contract extension worth US $ 131 million, pending the results of a medical examination.
Berrios went 12-9 last season with a 3.52 earned-run average.
The Blue Jays acquired the 27-year-old right-hander as part of a midseason transfer to the Minnesota Twins.
Berrios made his Major League debut with the Twins in 2016.
He could become a free agent after the 2022 season.
