(Toronto) The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder George Springer on the paternity leave list on Saturday and recalled Nathan Lukes from their AAA-level farm club.
Lukes has appeared in 23 games with the Blue Jays this season. He had three hits and one run on 19 at-bats.
With the Buffalo Bisons, at the AAA level, Lukes, 28, has batted .338 this season.
The Blue Jays (49-40) play the second of a three-game series in Detroit on Saturday afternoon, against the Tigers. The Toronto squad will be looking for a fifth straight win.
