Joonas Korpisalo was strong in goal, blocking 39 shots and frustrating all three Devils shooters in the play-off.

Oliver Bjorkstrand, Patrik Laine and Boone Jenner were the Blue Jackets’ three scorers in the game. This is the first road victory for the Ohio team.

Andreas Johnsson, Dawson Mercer and Dougie Hamilton scored the Devils’ goals while Scott Wedgewood dealt with repelling 23 of 26 shots aimed at him.

The Devils struck first at 1:07 in the first period. Bratt rounded the net to give Johnsson a puck at the face-off circle and Johnsson beat the goalie with a wrist shot.

The Blue Jackets tied the power play ten minutes later thanks to Bjorkstrand. Laine pushed the Blue Jackets ahead 2-1 before the end of the period by scoring on a nice pass from Voracek on the counterattack.

Mercer tied the two teams in the middle of the second period. Soon after, Hamilton gave the Devils the lead. Then Jenner forced overtime with an unassisted goal with just over five minutes left in the game.

The Devils had a great opportunity to save themselves with the win in the dying moments of the game as they were treated to a five-to-three power play.

However, they finished the game 0-3 on the power play.

Voracek had two assists in the game for the Blue Jackets, as did PK Subban for the Devils.
