Head coach Khari Jones confirmed the news on video Wednesday.

Harris, 35, made his Alouettes debut (6-6) last week in a 31-21 loss to the Blue Bombers (11-1). He completed 14 of his 25 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Jones’ decision ahead of this weekend’s game comes as no surprise. Matt Shiltz (knee) didn’t work out on Tuesday and just did individual exercises on Wednesday.

The Alouettes acquired Harris from the Edmonton Elks on October 17, five days after putting Vernon Adams Jr. (shoulder) on the injured list. Adams is still not expected to return to the game until the end of the 2021 season, Jones reiterated on Wednesday.

The Alouettes are currently third in the Eastern section, behind the Toronto Argonauts (8-4) and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (7-5). These two teams will face each other on Friday, but the three teams are already guaranteed a participation in the playoffs.
