Accused by a woman of sexual violence, two rugby players from the French XV, Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou, must explain themselves before the Argentine courts on Thursday, July 11. Their version differs from that of their alleged victim, reported by her lawyer.
A hotel in Mendoza, Argentina, has been at the heart of investigations for several days. Since Monday, July 8, rugby players Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou have been in pretrial detention, after accusations by a woman of sexual violence. While both parties admit to having met at a party, the versions of what happened during the night diverge.
The alleged victim claims to have been held against her will and to have suffered violence, according to the account she gave to her lawyer. “The irrefutable proof of the lack of consent is the victim’s body. She has bite marks, scratches, blows to her breasts and marked ribs on her back.”explains Me Natacha Romano, counsel for the complainant.
A version that is refuted by the lawyer of the two Frenchmen, Me Rafael Cuneo Libarona, who speaks of a relationship “consented” with the two players. The rugby players will have to explain themselves for the first time before the courts during the afternoon of this Thursday, July 11.
