“Blinding Lights” on Spotify: The Weeknd’s 4 billion song

The ultra-popular pop anthem Blinding Lightsby Canadian The Weeknd, has become the first member of a new select club, that of songs with 4 billion plays on Spotify.

Launched in November 2019 and unfairly snubbed in its year of Grammy eligibility, Blinding Lights therefore reached this unprecedented peak in just over four years.

As good news never comes alone, The Weeknd also learned that he had broken his own record for monthly listeners on Spotify. It went from 100 million, in February 2023, to 113 million.

“I will always remain humbled by the fact that everything I create reaches millions of people, even billions. I’m so grateful that this song evokes emotions that keep people listening to it again and again,” Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, said in a statement.
