The leader of the Bloc Québécois, Yves-François Blanchet, said he was “stunned” by the declaration of the caquiste Jean Boulet on immigration which has been controversial for two days.

Recall that during a debate last week, Mr. Boulet falsely claimed that 80% of immigrants did not have a job and did not share Quebec values, remarks that “disqualified” him from the post of minister. of Immigration by the outgoing Prime Minister, François Legault.
Describing Mr. Boulet as a “lame duck” – an English expression designating a politician who is losing influence because it is known that his position will soon be replaced – Yves-François Blanchet believes that François Legault will have “lots of people to return in the council of ministers” anyway.
Even if it is legitimate for an immigration minister to have “concerns” about the integration of immigrants into the labor market and into Quebec culture, Jean Boulet “produced a completely gratuitous figure, which is completely contrary to a certain nobility that comes with the position he held,” continued the Bloc leader.
Mr. Blanchet, like most provincial party leaders, is of the opinion that to “harmoniously integrate economically and linguistically” immigration must be further regionalized, in a context where approximately 80% of immigrants favor the Greater Montreal.
