‘BLAME CANADA!’: New York Post headline blames country for smog

Humor, cynicism, or bullshit? The New York Post headlines its Thursday cover story “Blame Canada!” in reference to the smog which overhangs the metropolis and which is caused by the active forest fires in Quebec.

The tabloid is known for its hard-hitting front pages, but Thursday’s may be going too far.

“Wildfires in Canada are plunging New York City into a grim, smoky hell,” he wrote on the front page, using the term “Canuck” to refer to Canadians.

“Yes. They should have done more to put out the fires. Everyone should turn their fan in the direction of Canada,” commented a user of the newspaper.

“What aid did the United States send to Canada?” Asked a surfer instead.

“Wow, I had to make sure it wasn’t a parody account,” one Twitter user said.

“Wow! Maybe we could have a little empathy for the thousands of people who had to be evacuated and who lost their homes,” exclaimed a woman.

“Oh my God, calm down the New York Post, Canada does not tell the wind which way to go,” sighed another Internet user.

The front page of the newspaper could actually be a reference to a popular segment of the show “South Park”.
