The 42-year-old Slovakian was originally scheduled to be celebrated on Nov. 9 at the United Center, when the Pittsburgh Penguins will be passing through Windy City. However, due to the sexual assault scandal that hit the Illinois organization, the organization saw fit to postpone the memorial evening.

A later date has not been announced.

“After further discussions between Danny Wirtz (CEO), Jaime Faulkner (COO) and Marian, everyone agreed that this was an important time for our organization to reflect instead of celebrating,” wrote the organization of the Blackhawks, in a statement.

“Marian and the organization know that we need to rebuild the trust of our community by holding ourselves accountable for the courage shown by Kyle Beach in speaking out [les gestes de Brad Aldrich]. “

Hossa was also part of the Blackhawks team, during the 2009-2010 season, when she won the Stanley Cup, but also at the same time of the facts reproached by Kyle Beach.

In 19 seasons in the National League, including eight in Chicago, the forward amassed 1,134 points in 1,309 games. He also won three Stanley Cups, all with the Blackhawks. Hossa will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on November 15, as a member of the 2020 vintage, but COVID-19 had forced the postponement of the induction ceremony.
