‘Black Panther’ Actress Severely Injured by Car While Eating on Terrace

Actress Carrie Bernans, known for her role as Dora Milaje in Marvel’s “Black Panther” franchise films, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on January 1 in New York.

Ms. Bernans was eating outside a restaurant when a driver who was fleeing the police drove into the terrace where she was, reports NBC News.

The 29-year-old actress and stuntwoman was left unconscious and with numerous broken bones, bruises, fractures and broken teeth, according to reports shared on Instagram by her mother, Patricia Lee.

The latter also indicates that her daughter would be unable to breastfeed her eight-month-old son “due to the medications she is given to reduce pain between her surgeries.”

In a Gofundme she created to finance her medical bills, Ms. Bernans says she is “filled with hope and faith in this new chapter of her life.”

The New York police indicate for their part that before the accident, the police had responded to an argument between a 44-year-old driver and his 34-year-old passenger.

The officers attempted to get the car to park, but the driver instead decided to drive onto the sidewalk where he allegedly collided with a grocery cart and three pedestrians.

He also reportedly hit two parked cars and a moving vehicle.

Two police officers and the passenger of the vehicle were also injured.

The driver was finally arrested and remains detained.

Carrie Bernans has appeared in several films and series over the years as an actress and stuntwoman, the most popular being “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Endgame” in which she played the character Dora Milaje.
