Black excellence celebrated for a 7th year at the Dynasty Gala

Wesli, Corneille, Marie-Célie Agnant: fifteen artists were rewarded on Saturday evening during the seventh edition of the Gala Dynastie which honors the work of artisans in the artistic and media circles from black communities in Quebec.

This year, the competition was particularly tight in the music world, with some artists having been nominated in several categories. It is finally Corneille, who made us dance last summer with his song pink inkwho won honors in the French-speaking artist category.

Singer-songwriter Wesli won in the world music category and rapper Zach Zoya in that of English-speaking artist of the year. The artist with the most international recognition is Montreal rapper Skiifall, while R&B artist Magi Merlin won the title of Musical Revelation. In the Music Video category, it is the very young rapper Jay Jay who wins for his title Block Boy.

The Gala Dynastie also crowned Mibenson Sylvain comedian of the year. Parliamentary Poet Laureate Marie-Célie Agnant was named author of the year. Crazy Smooth was rewarded in the dancer category and Michaëlle Sergile artist in visual arts.

For his part, Lyndz Dantiste, who is currently performing in the play The night treatment at Théâtre Espace Go, won the prize for comedian of the year in theatre. Actress Anna Beaupré-Moulounda, who plays in the comedy surviving her children, won top honors in the TV category. Henri Pardo, especially behind the film Dear Jackiemeanwhile scooped the Filmmaker/Director of the Year award.

As in the last two editions, the public was invited to vote for their favorite personality. The choice fell on the content creator Trait d’Olympe, who stood out with his outspokenness to address certain social taboos.

Media awards

During the first part of the Dynasty Gala, Thursday evening – hosted by Naadei Lyonnais – several personalities from the media world were also rewarded.

Richard Hétu, New York correspondent for The Press, won the prize for journalist of the year in the written press, while Sébastien Desrosiers of Radio-Canada won that of TV / radio reporter. Sean Henry and Erich Preach were honored in the Radio Host and TV Host of the Year categories respectively.

Anne-Lovely Étienne that can be read in the 24 hours won the award for opinion writer of the year, while Sydney Fowo and Martine St-Victor stood out as radio columnists and TV columnists.

On the web side, the magazine Qcltur is named Web Media of the Year, Real Blackity Talk webcast and Of love and sex Podcast of the year.

Content creator Angie Augustin aka Citron Rose known for creating in-game choreography just dance from Ubisoft, won the Web Personality of the Year award. Ariel Fitzpatrick won the web content creator award.

In addition, as usual, the Gala Dynastie awarded three tribute prizes which were awarded to journalist Raymond Laurent, host of Inter Saturday at CKUT, Radio-Canada host Rebecca Makonnen and dancer Ethel Bruneau.
