In an Instagram post, the 30-year-old presented a photo of himself on a stretcher in the hospital, as he is accompanied by the medical staff in charge of the operation.

“Thank you to everyone who helped out during my surgery today,” he wrote. Yesterday was very difficult for me to accept, after returning to training once the complications of COVID-19 were a thing of the past.

“During preparatory exercises, I fractured both toes in the middle of my foot and had to be operated on immediately. […] I’ll be back. Every step back is motivation to come back strong.”

Johnsen is yet to play this season, either in Major League Soccer or the CONCACAF Champions League. During the 2021 campaign, his first with the Montreal organization, he scored two goals in 26 games on the Garber circuit, totaling 888 minutes of play.
