The 62-year-old musician, who has become an icon by parodying many hits (including Michael Jackson), in addition to having been awarded five Grammy awards, co-wrote the screenplay.
According to Roku’s synopsis, the biopic explores every facet of Yankovic’s life and career, from the birth of his success to his “raunchy celebrity affairs and depraved lifestyle.”
“When my last film, UHF, was released in 1989, I swore to my fans that I would release a major production every 33 years. I’m very happy to say that we met the deadline, said Yankovic. And I’m thrilled to have Daniel Radcliffe play my character. I have no doubt that it is for this role that future generations will remember him. »
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will air exclusively on The Roku Channel. Production is slated to begin in early February in Los Angeles.
