(San Sebastián) The San Sebastián Film Festival on Friday began its 70e edition without Hollywood actress Glenn Close, who was to chair the jury but apologized for “family” reasons.

A total of 17 films are in competition for this edition, which will honor French actress Juliette Binoche and Canadian director David Cronenberg, who will be awarded honorary prizes for their entire career.
The official selection mainly includes Latin American and Spanish films, such as Model 77 by Spaniard Alberto Rodriguez, a film about a group of prisoners asking for amnesty after the death of dictator Franco in 1975, which opened the festival on Friday.
