Billy Joel gets shut down by CBS

CBS’s live broadcast of his concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday night was cut off in the middle of his performance of his classic Piano Manto give way to the news bulletin, raising the ire of his fans.

The American channel had however promoted this broadcast for several months in order to promote this concert, which marked the 100e Billy Joel’s performance in the New York arena, where he gave his first show in 1978.

The evening also got off to a bad start for admirers of the 74-year-old American singer-songwriter, the first half hour having been cut due to excess coverage of the Masters tournament.

The end of the broadcast of the concert was catastrophic, cut short in the middle of Piano Man, to move to the news bulletin, leading to a storm of comments on social networks. CBS had to apologize. “We turned the lights back on too early, we’re sorry,” the channel wrote on X.
