(Paris) The final phase of the Billie Jean King Cup will be played in the form of a knockout table in Seville (Spain) from November 12 to 20, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) which manages the competition announced on Thursday. .
“Taking into account the feedback from players, captains, fans and broadcasters, the final phase of the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup is changing format and replacing its group stage with a direct elimination table,” announces the ITF in a statement.
Of the twelve qualified nations, the top four seeds will enter directly into the quarter-finals while the other eight will play in a round of 16, according to this new format.
Thus, these round of 16 will be played from November 12 to 14, then the quarters (November 15-17), the semi-finals (November 18 and 19) and the final on November 20.
The draw for this draw is scheduled for April 30 at 10 a.m. at the ITF headquarters in London.
The twelve nations qualified for the final phase are: Australia, Canada (defending champion), the Czech Republic (guest), Great Britain, Germany, Italy (2023 finalist), Japan, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, United States and Spain (host country).
