(Malaga) The Billie Jean King Cup has chosen to move its finals from Seville to Malaga this year, the tournament’s organizing committee announced on Wednesday.
The women’s team tennis competition — previously called the Fed Cup — will be played at the same venue as the men’s Davis Cup finals, at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena, in November. The dates for both tournaments have not been changed.
“Our priority is to ensure that the Billie Jean King Cup Finals continue smoothly as the most exciting and unique women’s team tennis tournament on the 2024 calendar,” said Ilana Kloss, President of Billie Jean King Cup Ltd.
“Malaga, which is located just 210km from Seville, has been a fantastic venue for the Davis Cup Finals since 2022 and we know that its world-class facilities and passionate tennis fans will help create another unique and memorable competition,” added Kloss.
The Billie Jean King Cup finals will take place from November 13 to 20. The Davis Cup finals will take place from November 19 to 24.
The organizing committee said the decision was due to the demands of business partner Junta de Andalucia, without saying anything further.
He added that ticket holders will have the choice of exchanging them or getting a refund.
