Bill Belichick thanks Patriots fans in letter

Bill Belichick wrote a letter to fans of the New England Patriots, with whom he won the Super Bowl six times.

Belichick did it via a full page in the Boston Globein Sunday’s edition.

“To Patriots fans everywhere,

Nowhere in America are sports fans more passionate than in New England and for 24 seasons I have been fortunate to feel your passion and power.

The Patriots are the only team in the NFL representing SIX states, but in reality, Patriots Nation has no borders.

We were not intimidated by the weather, attended practices in scorching weather at training camp and braved the coldest, wettest, snowiest and windiest days in Foxborough.

Your thoughtful letters offered support, criticism, and creative suggestions for games. You watch on television, on the internet and from your seats in the stadium.

You have traveled coast to coast and internationally. Often you have stormed opposing stadiums and been the last fans standing. We have adored ! You have given your time, resources and energy to our team. All this is precious and we appreciated it!

Six times you filled Boston by the millions for parades that were truly an expression of gratitude and love, in both directions. The images of those days are etched in my memory.

You may have even appreciated my fashion sense and press conferences, or maybe you just tolerated them. I loved coaching here and together we had some incredible times.

Thank you all. With respect and admiration, Bill Belichick. »

On January 12, the Patriots announced the hiring of Jared Mayo as their new head coach.

With Belichick at the helm, the Pats won Super Bowls in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
