Big hassle for hundreds of travelers at Dijon station

A lost suitcase, and a whole network is blocked. Not sure that the hundreds of travelers evacuated from Dijon station on Monday July 25 have charming memories of the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy. Around 7 p.m., a suitcase was reported abandoned on a train from Paris. As required by procedure, the SNCF evacuated its trains, the platforms and the entire building while waiting for the deminers. Hundreds of people (exact figure not communicated) find themselves waiting on the forecourt. Their patience is put to the test because the deminers have to come… from Colmar.

The SNCF distributed a few bottles of water while the heat remains strong at the end of the day in town. Agents in red or orange vests mainly tried to reassure and calm people down. Traffic resumed shortly before 10:30 p.m., once the deminers intervened for this fortunately, the package turned out to be harmless.

“All travelers can resume their journey” provides the SNCF on-call unit. “For those whose trains have been cancelled, we offer taxis. We have also reserved hotel rooms for exhausted people who prefer to continue their journey tomorrow.”

This incident should allow the injured travelers to obtain a refund “depending on the waiting time and the number of kilometers lost” assures one of the advisers met on site. Reimbursement requests must be completed on the SNCF website.
