The 79-year-old Democrat, who had COVID-19 three months ago, had already received a second booster dose in late March.
This additional injection, which he must receive at the White House in the presence of journalists, targets two sub-variants of the virus.
Officials say Joe Biden will announce initiatives to push Americans to get their booster shots ahead of the holiday season, which is conducive to travel and family reunions.
“Most Americans can, if they receive this anti-COVID-19 booster dose, enjoy life this fall and winter with peace of mind, knowing they are protected from this serious disease,” the agency said. White House in a statement.
